Young Woodwinds and Strings Series

I commend the Young Woodwinds and Strings Series to our young instrumentalists and their teachers worldwide, in schools, conservatories, and youth programs. They represent the future of our art and music, and they deserve interesting and challenging repertoire for their future development and enjoyment.
These series contain works from the 12th century through to the 20th century. There are songs from medieval monasteries of central Europe, traditional songs from Italy, Germany, France (Canada), Austria, the Czech Republic, and (relatively) contemporary songs from South Africa.
I am particularly pleased to present two (originally choral) works by the 20th century South African composer B.P.J. Tyamzashe. In their historical and cultural context, they are equally as valuable as the Mozart Canon or the world-famous Christmas songs in adding to the available string and woodwind repertoire. More repertoire will follow in due course.
Christmas-season concerts will be richer for this. Non-seasonal concerts will also be richer for this. There will be additional songs added to both of these series in the weeks and months to come. There will also be a Young Brass Series in the weeks and months to come.
